Stasia Press Manifesto

Our mission...

Our mission is to electronically publish poetry and multicultural fiction written by new writers. We aim to create a space where the writer's voice is uncluttered by the politics of the literary world. We seek to provide literary art that enlightens the mind, body, and spirit.

Our readers...

Our readers tend to go for works that expound humanity's imperfections and push societal boundaries. They look for works that revise the social consciousness into something raw, fresh, riddled with angst, self-destruction, and then push past those growing pangs into something pure. They tend to read poets like Ai, Anis Mojgani, Bhanu Kapil, Virgil, Aristophanes, Keats, Ginsburg, Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Dylan Thomas, Patricia Smith, David Clewell, Edmund Spenser, Shakespeare etc. They tend to read novelists likely Sandra Cisneros, Toni Morrison, Jane Austen, Maxine Elva Beach, Zora Neale Hurston, Zakes Mda, Sherrie Flick, Octavia E. Butler, Gloria Naylor, Laura Esquivel, Arthur Golden, Virginia Woolf, George Orwell, Teju Cole, Ernest Hemingway, Flanery O'Connor, Patrik OurednĂk, etc. But yet aren't encumbered by their own literary prowess. These are humble, intellectuals who are curious about the world and question everything.

Our authors...

We expect a lot of our authors to be like our readers. This may include those who would love to publish with a university press but don't have the MA or MFA behind their name to get noticed as a "serious" poet or novelist. Those who who are earning the grad degrees but have something noteworthy to contribute to society now. Or simply the unlearned scholar. Anyone who wants to rage against our society's norms, who seeks revolutionary ideals that will better humanity.

Still in progress...
